Green tea is
rich with catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin galatte (EGCG).
EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant which does not only
inhibit the growth of cancer cells, it also kills cancer cells without harming healthy tissues. How does it works? EGCG stops cancer cells
from growing by binding with an enzyme called dihydrofolate reductase in the body. Scientists discover that EGCG kills cancer the same way as the cancer drug does but lesser side effects. These findings have promoted studies about EGCG based cancer treatment. However, studies are inconclusive and more research has to be done as to which extent does green tea prevent or fight cancer.
Though, there’s no harm in making it as your tea rut, just one of those healthy stuffs. Let’s brew up a cup of green tea!!
